Sam Gould is the Senior Director of Commerce and Customization at IPSY, the largest beauty membership in the world, home to sample-size beauty subscription Glam Bag and full-size beauty subscription BoxyCharm.

A commerce thought leader and merchandising expert, Sam currently leads the commerce pod at IPSY. Collaborating with his cross-functional team, he crafts what types of products IPSY sells, the promotions that are run, and how customers engage with products on the website. Sam is especially known for developing enticing member moments and promotions, including industry-leading experiences like “Build Your Bag”, where customers can customize their subscription with personalized choices each month. For his innovative work, Sam was recently recognized on Retail TouchPoints “40 Under 40” list as a rising star in the retail space.

Prior to IPSY, Sam honed his digital prowess as the Director of Personal Care at Wish, where he helped launch the US-based dropship business and led the owned inventory strategy across consumer goods categories.

While at Target, Sam developed his omnichannel expertise in merchandising and brand management. As the ‘up & up’ Owned Brand Manager, he focused on product development, opportunity sizing, pricing, and promotions. For his achievements, he was promoted to Senior Merchandise Buyer, where he led the trip-driving categories of Soap and Deodorant, working with top companies like Procter & Gamble and Unilever, and differentiated brands like Method and Raw Sugar, to further build the category and develop a pipeline of innovation.

Sam holds an MBA from Indiana University and a BA from Connecticut College in Economics and Psychology. Originally from Carlisle, Massachusetts, Sam now lives in San Francisco with his family where he enjoys coaching soccer, hiking, and playing board games with friends.
